The Hitachi C12FDH is the perfect balance of power and affordability for the journeyman craftsman and those DIYers looking to take their projects to the next level. Normally most industrial grade saws of this tier are too loud and expensive for the typical homeowner. Yet, the more “beginner friendly” are too weak to tackle large scale work like multiple rooms in a household. With a 12″ saw, a custom Laser Marker system, and a plethora of other features, the Hitachi is your answer.
Hitachi C12FDH Review
The Hitachi C12FDH provides smooth, accurate cuts at all angles and up to 7 inches on the toughest materials including oak, maple, hardwood, and even aluminum netting. The impressive cutting depth capacity is due to the aluminum alloy fence which can be extended an extra 5.15 inches if needed. While such fences usually come at the cost of control, the Hitachi’s actually improves the stability.
The Hitachi C12FDH was designed for precision with features like a laser marker system that can be activated before the blade is in motion for exact alignment and predictable blade placement. Furthermore, the laser system can be adjusted to suit your specific preferences and needs.
Other features include a dual bevel mechanism, a 2-step angle adjustment system and a compound feature. The thumb-actuated positive miter stops for simple miter adjustments at the most common angles between zero and 52 degrees to the left and right. This allows you to change the angle of the cutting blade.
It comes with a depth control system that allows the user to pre-set maximum cut depth. This ease of use creates a whole new group of available projects, such as bookshelves, stools, cabinets, and much more.
The saw comes with a free 12 inch TCT 32t blade. One of the main complaints received about the Hitachi C12FDH is that the blade is not suited for finer work. Indeed, we recommend blades in the 80-120t range for such tasks.
However, the blade is of great quality and perfect for heavy duty cuts. It provides smooth cutting action that has not left any splinters or rip marks after the cut. To top it off, it comes with a splinter guard that reduces irritating airborne particles from wood cutting.
Top Features – User Friendly
Undoubtedly, the best feature of the Hitachi C12FDH are its user friendliness. As we stated, most 12 inch saws are too loud and cumbersome for the tastes of most DIYers. However, the CI2FDH is one of the quietest saws on the high performance saw market. Additionally, its portable size and light weight (46 pounds) makes transportation and setup a breeze.
Do not think that this user friendliness means the Hitachi is lacking power! The saw is powered by a surprisingly strong 15-amp motor that spins a blade at a speed of 4,000 rpm. This high performance engine guarantees smooth and accurate cuts.
Overall, we highly recommend the Hitachi C12FDH. If you’re looking for a great user friendly miter saw that you can take to the next level, or are already an experienced craftsman looking for the best high performance bang for your buck, the C12FDH is it.
Most user reviews on the saw are glowing, and ours is no different. The one major complaint, like we mentioned on the review, is the blade which might not be ideal for all situations. It is great for rough and medium cuts, but for finer works it is not as accurate. Yet, with the amount of money you save on this excellent saw you can buy many blades to suit your specific requirements so that point is negligible. Overall, we must say we are very impressed with the Hitachi C12FDH and it has our expert seal of approval.
